Hexagon Wednesday
Hello everyone and thanks for visiting my garden this week. My maids are all standing in a row curiously looking out from the garden and wondering who my visitor is. These maidens are new so I must apologize that they are staring and do not recognize you. Just give them time and it won't be long before they recognize everyone. My garden is growing but at a slower pace. I have other projects I want to start on so my flowers will only be growing at a rate of one hexagon per day. That's a comfortable speed for me to maintain at this point in time. As I mentioned last post I feel like "freedom 55" has taken hold because this group of hexagons were made without a thought of colour coordination. Personally I like the way the hexagons worked out and the hexagons went together with no stress nor fuss. If you would like a closer look remember to click on the image. There is a burning question I would like to know the answer to. When I sew the petals together I have to stop and cut my thread several times. I have not been able to figure out if there is a "route" to take where I would be able to sew all the petals and centre together without having to break the thread. Is that a possible? Would someone in the blogosphere please leave me a comment on how to accomplish this (if possible). I would also like to hear from you if it's only partially possible as in 2 thread cuts. It has been on my mind for a while now and thought I would ask, you, my quilting friends for the answer.

sorry - can't help with your question, but i hope you get some answers from other lovely ladies! i think your hexies are so beautiful
xx
Love the flowers this week and slowing down to one a day still sounds pretty darn good to me! As for your question, I can't think of a way.
And very beautiful maids in a row they are. Brigitte when i sew the hexies together i put the centre against a petal & whip stitch together. Then open out place next petal & sew to centre & so on until all 6 are sewn to the centre. That uses one length of thread & i then sew the side seams down & that is where i have the stop & start of sewing. I haven't figure any other way to do them yet that would be continuous.
Love your pretty flowers.
Your flowers turned out nice. I think I do my flowers with only 2 thread cuts. Will comment again tomorrow when I'm not so drowsy....don't think I can explain clearly now!
Great hexies. But I think it is not possible to assemble a hexie without cutting your thread. I don't think it is even possible to only cjut it twice. I always have to cut my thread 6 times. So when you do find the perfect method, I would also like to know it! Great qusteion, by the way!
Beautifull maids. All dressed up.
I am keen to hear when you find the answer to your question.
I sewn mine in six, then attach the centre and then the outer flower... but still I have to stop when sewing each petal together to another one.

You're growing a lovely flowergarden here. Enjoy!
You have certainly been busy Brigitte. I sew in pairs but need to cut thread.
Lovely flowers and one a day is more than most.
So pretty! I am astonished how prolific you are as a hexie gardner!
one hexi a day - oh wow your garden will grow nice & fast.
I have no order at all of how the thread is used.
Love Leanne
You have had a productive week with all your lovely flowers! In answer to your question, I find it difficult to keep the thread from getting tangled so I tend to keep it short.
Great flowers!
I really don't know if it is possible to sew all petals and the centre without a break.
And I think it is not so good to use a very long thread. I am afraid I get knots.
Like the others, I sew all of the petals to the center first and then up one of the petals. I then start at the outside of puttng two petals together, work my way toward the center then slide the needle under the fabric to the next petal seam and work my way toward the outside edge. I read somewhere that you can float the thread under the fabric for an inch with no problems. Working this way you may get by with only four thread cuts.
My favorite of your flowers is the bottom one!
Your flowers are so pretty again this week...I am so sorry i can't help you with your question.I tend to keep my thread short to prevent it twisting up. xx
You have made some lovely flowers this week. I will have to look, how I sew the flowers together, but I try to get as few cuts as possibly.
sorry- but I too have to cut my thread far too often. Your hexies are wonderful. Good luck with your other projects
